Tommy Golczynski, CEO and Managing Partner

Tommy Golczynski has over 20 years of energy experience and his career started in downstream olefin and refinery design before joining Multiphase Solutions, Inc. (MSi, now Wood.) where he ascended to Vice-President, Consulting Services. In twelve years at MSi, Mr. Golczynski managed the global operations of the consulting division and was actively engaged in technical projects throughout his tenure. By utilizing the state-of-the-industry tools, serving on joint-industry project (JIP) committees, and working on some of the largest projects across the world, Mr. Golczynski brings a global perspective to best practices/lessons learned on each project engagement. Mr. Golczynski graduated magna cum laude with a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), where he currently serves on the Chemical Engineering department’s alumni advisory board.

Tony Spratt, PhD, Managing Partner

Dr. Tony Spratt, PhD has nearly 20 years of experience specifically focused on deepwater production, with specialist expertise in the areas of project management, transient simulations, systems integration, and production chemistry. Dr. Spratt’s career has spanned a range of engagements within the energy community, ranging from chemical supplier (Nalco/Multi-Chem), engineering contractor (Foster Wheeler), and operator (Chevron). The breadth of Dr. Spratt’s experience allows him to offer a unique perspective that spans from the laboratory to design to field application. This allows Dr. Spratt to keenly understand the needs of various disciplines in delivering a total system solution. Dr. Spratt graduated magna cum laude from Midwestern State University with a degree in chemistry, before obtaining his PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Arizona.

Elijah Kempton, Operations Director

Elijah Kempton has 20 years of flow assurance experience and has completed a wide range of offshore and onshore energy projects. Mr. Kempton currently directs AFS operations globally and has extensive international executive experience. His career started at Multiphase Solutions, Inc. (MSi, now Wood.) where he managed a paraffin / wax laboratory and later started the first MSi international office in London. Subsequently, he managed the consultancy Purple Mountain Technology Group which specialized in water hammer fluid flow analysis. Mr. Kempton joined AFS in 2014 when he started the Denver office which focused on onshore flow assurance challenges. Mr. Kempton graduated with a degree in chemical engineering and petroleum refining from the Colorado School of Mines and has an MBA from the University of Denver.

Ian Kopperman, Regional Manager

Ian Kopperman is a chartered chemical engineer, with nearly 20 years of worldwide oil and gas experience with a breadth of knowledge in offshore, onshore and subsea projects, related to flow assurance, production chemistry, subsea and process engineering, and project management. His technical and managerial leadership has meant he has he managed large scale technical projects in all phases of the oil and gas development life cycle. Ian has built a solid and highly skilled team of engineers and consultants at AFS in the UK, becoming a trusted provider of project and operational support. He currently acts as the flow assurance and production chemistry consultant to several operators for their developments locally.

Nadine Cote, Financial Controller

Nadine Cote has over 10 years of accounting experience and has acted as the Financial Controller at AFS since 2014. Prior to joining AFS, Ms. Cote worked in a variety of roles within the Finance department of a large multi-national energy company. Ms. Cote is passionate about supporting woman in the fields of accounting and finance and is very involved with the Houston Chapter of the Accounting and Financial Woman’s Alliance (AFWA). Over the years she has served in numerous positions on the AFWA’s board of directors, included serving as chapter president. Ms. Cote graduated with a degree in business administration, marketing from the University of Southern Maine, has a degree in accounting from Malcolm Baldrige School of Business, and has an MBA from the University of Houston.
